Ian McDaniel previously served as Senior Vice President/Senior Manager within the Wholesale Risk Management Organization at Citi. From 2007 to 2011, McDaniel fulfilled a number of responsibilities for the financial services company that included managing, from end to end, the Contracts and Positions Data Warehouse project, which serves as the position and contract data warehouse for all of Citi.
Ian McDaniel’s responsibilities included managing a team of more than 60 employees and contract technical professionals, ranging from managers to senior developers. Involved in all aspects of the software development life cycle, his duties included resource planning, design/code reviews, project budgeting, vendor management, business client and senior executive interface, architecture reviews,defining standards and re-useable components, and vendor/contractor agreements. The Contracts and Positions Data Warehouse was designed to be a generic metadata drive framework using technologies such as Ab Initio (ETL), Java, and PeopleSoft for front-end user interface, Cognos for reporting mechanism, and JMS messaging for real-time data capture/distribution.
As Vice President/Project Manager within Citi, Ian McDaniel was responsible for managing various projects within the Institutional Clients Group. As part of the Data Distribution Infrastructure Division, the group provided real-time access of Depository, Trade, Settlement, Mortgage, and Reference Data to various internal and external clients, eliminating maintenance of existing point-to-point interfaces and cost of building new point-to-point interfaces. Prior to this role, Ian McDaniel served as an Assistant Vice President in Citi’s New York City office. He acted as head Ab Initio designer and consultant for initiatives within technology groups covering compliance, risk, finance, and equities. He helped to cut development time and cost in half for these divisions and significantly enhanced performance by utilizing Ab Initio experience and common reusable components. For three years, he also interfaced Ab Initio with Citi Bullet, Staffware, and other frameworks.
Before joining Citi, Ian McDaniel was a consultant for Accenture, working out of the firm’s innovation center in New Providence, New Jersey. As a team lead on the AT&T Kaleidoscope Client Project, he converted the telecommunications company’s legacy systems to a new innovative data transfer/capture interface, which moved data via batch/real-time processing, resulting in speeds of data up to 500% faster, He functioned as a team lead from initial design through deployment. From 2001 to 2003, McDaniel worked as a Programmer Analyst for Accenture on the AT&T CustomerConnect project, functioning as a senior developer/team lead, focusing on requirement gathering to deployment. The projects included extensive Java and J2EE using ATG dynamo. For his dedication and leadership ability, McDaniel was promoted from Program Analyst to Consultant. Previously, he was a senior programmer with ICP.
Ian McDaniel graduated cum laude from St. John’s University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science. Since then, he has completed training in areas such as structured testing, risk management, project management, and systems development. He also earned his A+ certification and completed Citi Project Management Professional, Level 1.
